Having trained for 50 years with the maestro he also became the unique representative of the Imdad Khan or Vilayatkhani gharana or style. Having also carved out a distinguished career in business in India he has also found time to emerge as one of the most successful contemporary teachers of the sitar as well as being an accomplished scholar and author. This unique CD covers a highly appreciated live presentation which was both educative and musically rewarding - the theme being "Bandish Parampara" or "Traditional Compositions" of great masters. Born in 1956, Budhaditya Mukherjee is undoubtedly one of the most admired and respected sitarists of his generation and is greatly appreciated by audiences both in India and abroad. He uses the sitar to such affect that he is able to make it imitate the way the human voice is used in Indian music. Considered a child prodigy he began performing public concerts from his early teens and became All India Radio's A grade artist at just 19. Here he performs Mian Ki Todi which is a morning raga from the time of Emperor Akbar's court. He follows this with Basant Mukhari, another beautiful morning raga.
