The dotar is a kind of simple mini-sarod. Dotar actually means 'two-strings',
however, the Bengal dotars we store at India Instruments have four playing
strings. As with the sarod, her strings run over a metal finger-board and over a
bridge on a leather-covered wooden corpus. As for the pitch of the playing
strings, the same intervals used for the sarod apply. Since the dotar
is noticeably smaller, the pitch has to be lowered significantly.
